Sometimes it's just not polite to not eat something. I had a lunch meeting yesterday. They wanted to pitch a sponsorship opportunity to my company. I was invited, along with my boss, to the home/office of a prominent business person in the community. The home was lovely. Lunch was lovely as well. It was a very nice cream of broccoli soup, a salad with shaved parmigiana reggiano and very good quality calamata olives, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Then there were cannolis from a local Italian bistro. It really would have been rude not to partake. What do you do?
I did scoot out at the last minute before lunch to make Body Pump. I was going to skip. Didn't have any buddies, and had my excuses all lined up. Funny, those excuses don't always work with my conscience. My raking blister injury lost out in the end. My two-hours of sleep lost out too. I really did feel great after the workout. Big surprise. I always do. I was especially glad after lunch.
Funny, today wasn't much different. My son is in town, and I always like to make breakfast. I made egg and brie sandwiches on baguettes toasted in olive oil and garlic. They were quite yummy. It has been a long time though since I've eaten brie and my stomach instantly felt it. It is so rich! Then guilt set in and I went running. Then I did cardio kick boxing and skipped lunch. Good thing because I made Chicken Marsala and pumpkin risotto for dinner. I did skip the heavy cream, except a splash to finish off the Chicken Marsala. Oh how I love food! There's just not enough time in the day to work it all off. Plus, I kind of ache from trying to do so.
You know what's really cool though is that a girl in class at the gym asked if I was losing weight and said it showed. That made my day. That makes all the hard work worth it. No one wants to be a fatty!
