Survived the Susan G. Komen for the Cure 5K today. Finished in just under 33 minutes. Of course, there's such a bottle neck at the finish line my time will probably be 38 or 39! That hill is killer! I really need to run more before the race. Running is so great for losing weight anyway. Anytime I've spent more time running, I've lost weight even without dieting. I have to say that the martinis and chili I had with the girls last night didn't help my time any. The martinis were light, and I didn't have too many but I should have refrained. I was not ready to run early in the morning! I've never been a morning exerciser anyway.
The 1-mile water stop was a godsend! I quickly snatched up a cup of water, took a quick drink, and dumped the rest down my shirt. Then I remembered I was wearing a white shirt. Thank goodness I had strategically pinned my race bib over my chest. And I thought those people were just cheering me on as I ran the race!
My run was powered by my doppio espresso and a banana chocolate Vivano from Starbucks. The Vivano is pretty good for you, I guess, if you're having it for a meal. It has 270 calories and 5 grams of fat. It contains 1 whole banana, 2 percent milk and protein powder. It also has 6 grams of fiber and 20 percent of your daily allowance of calcium.
Beware, however, of the non-fat pumpkin spice latte. I've ordered them twice and they came with whipped cream, which adds 7 grams of fat. I ordered one today and the girl informed us that if you order the non-fat version, they automatically leave the whipped cream out anyway. If that's the case, I probably got the full-fat version! I really hope that's not the case, as that has 410 calories and 17 grams of fat! Starbucks is sabotaging my diet! Here's a tip, if your non-fat pumpkin spice latte has whipped cream, send it back! It's so not worth it! I guess I'll have to stick to coffee from now on.
