Hi there. Let me begin by saying I thought of the blog before even hearing of the movie Julie and Julia. Being a food lover, I had to go see the movie. It was cute, but really made me want to eat brie and drink wine. And lots of it. Like I needed any incentive.
I've basically been eating pretty much everything, so I decided to challenge my sisters and some friends in a contest. Ten weeks to loose ten percent of our body weight. Easy peasy, right? Not really if you love to cook as much as I do. I read Food and Wine magazine like porn and Crate and Barrel and Williams Sonoma catalogues are like fashion magazines to me. I do really want to be super hot by the time I turn 45, which is a mere 17 months away.
So, Labor Day weekend was my chance to eat everything I wanted and get it out of my system. I made lobster topped filet mignon with holandaise, I ate seafood fritters and whole-belly fried clams. I even ate a Filet O Fish and fries, washed down with a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by almost the whole container of Ben and Jerry's peanutbutter cup icecream. The evidence has been eaten, the rest destroyed.
Here's where Jillian comes in. She can kick but on the biggest looser, so I bought her video set about a year ago. It really works! I've put it in at about 11 p.m. after eating half a pound of chocolate ganache and orange butter cream icing. Gotta alleviate the guilt somehow!
So the wine is off-limits for now and all the really good (really bad) food. I can do this! I'll just have to create some really yummy versions of the Julia classics--minus all the butter. Wish me luck!
